Licenses
The SKDB licensing platform supports experimentation and commercialisation of Orbo in two phases. Phase 1 requires interested parties to purchase a Developer License, which allows Orbo experimentation for any application area. Phase 2, the Commercial License, allows full commercial development of Orbo.*
Developer Use
Phase 1: Orbo Technology Developer License and SKDB Membership
- Typically for individuals, research and development teams, hobbyists, students, and academics
- Access to the SKDB and its Orbo technology e-Learning modules
- Online collaboration and ability to establish multi-disciplined research teams.

- Annual License and Membership fee €419.00 inclusive of VAT (where applicable)
Commercial Use
Phase 2: Orbo Technology Commercial License and SKDB Membership
- Rolls out second quarter of 2010
- Typically for business entities
- Commercialisation permitted
- Access to the SKDB and its Orbo technology e-Learning modules
- Ability to create project teams for commercial development through the SKDB
- Learn how Orbo technology works and how to develop it
- Royalties payable based on the quantity and power output of products shipped
- Commercialisation of automotive, transportation, aerospace and mobile consumer electronics applications are NOT permitted under this license*
*Commercial deployment of Orbo technology into Mobile Consumer Electronics, Automotive / Transportation / Aerospace and Frictionless Magnetic Bearings is not currently available under our license structure. Contact Steorn to register your interest in any of these areas.
