Our Licensing Model
Public Licensing
The Orbo Technology Developer License is available online to developers, individual enthusiasts, researchers and all other interested parties from March 2010. Commercial Licenses will be issued during the second quarter 2010. All developments and improvements to Orbo technology will be shared amongst the then current members of the SKDB for further research and development. Both license packages provide membership to the SKDB, which is the sole medium for dissemination of Orbo technology and all its enhancements.
Phase 1: Developer License
The Developer License and SKDB membership are available on an annual basis, subject to interested parties confirming their acceptance of the License and Terms of Service and payment of license and membership fees. Licenses can be renewed annually. Developer Licensees and any other parties wishing to commercialise Orbo technology may do so provided that they enter into an Orbo Technology Commercial License and associated agreements for commercialization of the technology.
Phase 2: Commercial License – Rolling out second quarter 2010
Commercial Licenses will be available to all parties for any applications in areas other than Mobile Consumer Electronics, Automotive / Transportation / Aerospace and Frictionless Magnetic Bearings. An annual license fee will be charged for a commercial licence and royalties will be payable to Steorn. Royalties will be based on the number of products or components manufactured and their power output capacity. All development work, license management and royalty reporting will be conducted through the SKDB. Contact us if you are interested in an Orbo Technology Commercial License.
